Conservative voters in Kentucky have a conservative candidate to support.  I have watched Bill Johnson rise in the polls on a monthly basis, and I was delighted to see this press release on his website today.

ESSAY

In twilight of dawn, an American flag responds to a gentle morning breeze. Fifty stars evenly and equally placed on a field of dark blue, precede and stand above stripes of red and white. All prominent, powerful and proper in their placement and representation, yet for the country it represents, something is wrong, and much is missing. In brightness of daylight, our flag has stood offering itself as a symbol of hope, promise and refuge for all Americans, and the world. In the fading light of evening when people have both slowed their active day or begin it anew; it has stood. In the latest of nights and the darkest of hours for the minds, bodies and souls of the individuals in this great country, and around the world; it stood. When prayer and hope was all that remained, far out distancing all indignities, insults, illegalities, and betrayals, many of us have turned to look upward seeking the grace, forgiveness, and assurance of GOD first. Where is the sunshine?

Another step has been taken in my part of Louisiana by our cable provider, Cox Communication,  to make it more difficult for the “average” citizen to view the deliberations of government. The United States Senate deliberations have been viewable through C-Span on our area channel 99 which most TV sets can handle. On December 8th,  C-Span was moved to channel 142 not viewable without a “box.” Even with the “box” channel 142 does not have Closed Caption for hearing disabled people.

In my discussion with Cox, all I got was an obfuscation of detail. It is my opinion that the move was all about money. In our area of Louisiana, channel 23 is WGN a Chicago, Illinois commercial TV station accessible by every TV set.

Bottom line is that Louisiana cannot follow, easily, Senate debate, but is treated to watching events in Illinois. I guess the House of Representatives will be next.

I would be interested in  knowing if this is happening in your state. Write me at mail@cp-usa.org

A Thought for this Holiday Season

Do you remember the 60’s song about Alfie, the lyrics of which begin, “What’s it all about, Alfie?  What’s it all about when you sort it out, Alfie? The Christmas holiday season in the United States generally inspires one’s thoughts to that question, “What’s it all about?” I say it’s about the mystery of something greater than us. It provokes that thought today, and it did at the time of the Founding Fathers of this nation.

.” The Declaration of Independence makes four explicit references to our nation’s reliance on God. (more…)
